Volleyball Bounces Back with Win at Arkansas-Monticello

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Harding volleyball team swept Arkansas-Monticello 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-23) on Thursday in Great American Conference action.

RECORDS

Harding improves to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the GAC. Arkansas-Monticello falls to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in the GAC.

SET ONE HIGHLIGHTS

Harding jumped out to a 13-5 lead to open the first set. In the opening points, the Lady Bisons had three blocks and forced five other attack errors. Leading 24-14, Harding got a solo block by Emma Reeves to win the set.

SET TWO HIGHLIGHTS

Arkansas-Monticello opened the second set with a 6-1 lead. Harding battled back and took a 10-9 lead on a 9-3 run on three kills and two blocks. Trailing 22-20, the Lady Bisons went on a 5-1 run to take the set 25-23.

SET THREE HIGHLIGHTS

Arkansas-Monticello took a 11-6 lead in the third set behind a 7-0 run. Harding battled back to trail 23-20 and then scored the next five points to win the set 25-23. The Lady Bisons had 17 kills and hit .234 in the set.

TEAM STATS

Harding had 36 kills in the match and hit .202. The Lady Bisons also had 56 digs and eight blocks.

The Lady Bisons forced Arkansas-Monticello to 24 attack errors and hit .106.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

The Lady Bisons were led by Sara Smith and Zoe Hardin who each had 12 kills and hit over .600. Hardin also had six blocks.

Abigail Glosup had 34 assists and four digs for Harding.

Taylor Lake led the Lady Bisons defense with 27 digs.

Arkansas-Monticello was led by Shay Mitchell who had 11 kills. Macy Mitchell led the defense with 21 digs.

Harding head coach Meredith Fear: "We are happy to leave Monticello with a 3-0 win. They are a scrappy team that didn't make it easy on us. But I'm proud of the teams fight and ability to close out close sets.

Harding will continue GAC action next Tuesday when it travels to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Ouachita Baptist at 6:30 p.m.
