Harding Football Races Past Arkansas-Monticello 57-7 to Remain Undefeated

MONTICELLO, Ark. – 25th-ranked Harding scored touchdowns on five of its first six possessions, limited Arkansas-Monticello to -25 rushing yards and the Bisons defeated the Weevils 57-7 on Saturday in Great American Conference action at Convoy Leslie Cotton Bowl Stadium. Harding had 378 rushing yards and eight rushing TD.

Harding scored 30 points in the second quarter, led 36-0 at halftime and improved to 4-0 overall in remaining atop the GAC. It was the Bisons' sixth straight victory over Arkansas-Monticello (1-3).

Quarterback Park Parish, who did not play at all in the second half, rushed for 88 yards on nine carries and three TD and completed three passes for 37 yards in the first half. Harding also scored in the second quarter on a 38-yard run by Eric Kelly and a 14-yard carry by Romar Reades.

Arkansas-Monticello scored its only TD with 2:10 left in the third quarter. The Weevils capitalized on a Bison fumble and scored on a 6-yard pass from Cole Sears to Jalen Tolliver.

Harding added three more TD in the second half, one on a 1-yard Terrence Dingle run and two more from Reades (2 yards and 37 yards). Reades had eight carries for 86 yards and three TD.

Harding's defense limited Arkansas-Monticello to only nine first downs, including just one rushing first down. The Boll Weevils had 23 rushing attempts for -25 yards. That effort was topped only by the 2002 team that limited West Georgia to -27 yards in a game.

Harding outgained Arkansas-Monticello 435-131. The Bisons were 5-of-5 passing for a season-high 57 yards. The Bison defense had nine tackles for loss, including three sacks, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and four pass breakups.

Individually, Daylan Skidmore and Isaiah Jefferson had five tackles, and Jefferson added an interception. Cordell Zalenski had two of Harding's three sacks, and Jacory Nichols had his first collegiate interception.

Harding returns to First Security Stadium next Saturday to host Ouachita Baptist at 6 p.m.
