WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The 23rd-ranked Harding softball team swept both games of the doubleheader at Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons won 2-0 and 9-1 in five innings. Harding won the conference series 3-1.
The Lady Bisons improves to 11-3 on the season and 3-1 in GAC play. Southwestern Oklahoma falls to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (#23 Harding 2, Southwestern Okla. 0)
- After Madi Trump doubled to lead off the third inning for Harding, she came around to score on a fielder's choice RBI by Courtney Derrick.
- The Lady Bisons got an insurance run in the seventh when Amanda Berdon hit a solo home run down the left field line. It was her third of the year.
Game One Key Statistics
- Harding produced six hits in the game, led by Autumn Humes and Lindsey Duncan who went 2-for-3.
- Hannah Johnson held Southwestern Oklahoma to one hit in the contest. Johnson picked up the win to improve to 7-1 on the season. She threw the complete game with a walk and four strikeouts.
- Rileigh Ricken got the loss for the Lady Bulldogs to fall to 0-1 on the season. She gave up six hits, two earned runs and struck out four.
Game Two Key Innings (#23 Harding 9, Southwestern Okla. 1 – 5 innings)
- Harding got on the board in the second when Lindsey Duncan hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Kimmy Hendricks.
- Southwestern Oklahoma scored its only run in the second inning when Tori Hawk hit a solo home run down the left field line.
- Harding got two more runs in the third when Alexus Lawellin scored on a wild pitch and Hendricks hit a sacrifice fly that scored Peyton Mills.
- The Lady Bisons produced six runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two RBI single by Peyton Mills.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Each team had five hits in the game.
- Southwestern Oklahoma had four errors in the game.
- Alexus Lawellin and Peyton Mills each had two hits for the Lady Bisons.
- Five different Harding players had RBIs in the game. Mills led the Lady Bisons with two.
- Autumn Humes got the win for Harding to improve to 4-1 on the season. She gave up two hits, one earned run and struck out six. Hannah Johnson pitched two scoreless innings of relief. She gave up three hits and faced nine batters.
- Southwestern Oklahoma's starter Taya Haney received the loss and falls to 2-2 on the season. She pitched three innings, gave up five hits, five earned runs and walked two.
