Softball Sweeps Ouachita Baptist on Sunday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The 17th-ranked Harding softball team moved its winning streak to 13 games on Sunday with a doubleheader sweep at Ouachita in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons won 5-3 and 5-4.

 

The Lady Bisons improves to 19-3 on the season and 9-1 in the GAC. Ouachita falls to 10-12 overall and 4-6 in the GAC.


Game One Key Innings (#17 Harding 5, Ouachita 3)

-         Harding scored all of its runs in the first inning on six hits. Peyton Mills, Kimmy Hendricks-Campbell and Amanda Berdon each knocked in a run and Madi Trump knocked in two runs.

-         Ouachita got a run back in the first when Sarah Johnson hit a RBI single.

-         The Tigers scored two more runs in the fourth on three hits.

 
Game One Key Statistics

-         Harding had 13 hits in the game. Peyton Mills and Amanda Berdon each went 3-for-4. Courtney Derrick and Alexus Lawellin also had multiple hits with each player going 2-for-4 at the plate.

-         Ouachita had eight hits, led by Macy Nantz who went 2-for-4.

-         Harding starting pitcher Hannah Johnson got the win and improves to 10-1 on the season. She pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up five hits and three earned runs.

-         Autumn Humes picked up her second save of the season, pitching 3 2/3 innings and struck out three for the Lady Bisons.

-         Macy Nantz received the loss for Ouachita and falls to 2-4 on the season. She pitched 6 1/3, gave up 13 hits and five earned runs.

 
Game Two Key Innings (#17 Harding 5, Ouachita 4)

-         Autumn Humes singled through the right side to score Courtney Derrick in the first to give Harding a 1-0 lead.

-         Ouachita took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on two hits. Daniella Brantley singled in a run and Macy Wilson scored on a wild pitch.

-         Harding tied the game in the sixth when Amanda Berdon hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Alexus Lawellin.

-         Ouachita took the lead again in the sixth on a two-run home run by Sarah Johnson.

-         With runners at first and second, Alexus Lawellin singled through the left side to score Brookelynn Moon from second. With the bases loaded and one out, Autumn Humes singled in two runs to give Harding the 5-4 lead.

 
Game Two Key Statistics

-         Harding had eight hits in the game with Lawellin, Mills and Humes each going 2-for-4.

-         It was Humes seventh multiple RBI game.

-         Autumn Humes got the win and improves to 8-1 on the season. It was her eighth complete game as she gave up four hits, and struck out seven.

-         Kelsey O'Brien received the loss for Ouachita and falls to 5-5. She gave up seven hits, five earned runs and struck out three.

-         The two teams will wrap up their series on Monday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
