Volleyball Sweeps Ouachita Baptist 3-0

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team won its second straight Great American Conference match Tuesday after defeating Ouachita Baptist 3-0 at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House. Harding improves to 14-2 overall and 3-1 in the GAC

Ouachita Baptist falls to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the GAC.

FIRST SET

Harding took a 6-1 lead to start the first set behind five kills. Ouachita Baptist climbed back in the set and went on a 6-0 run to trail 13-12. With the set tied at 16, Harding went on a 5-1 run on three kills to lead 20-17. The Tigers battled back and pulled within two 24-22 but a kill by Emily Smith gave Harding the 25-22 set win. The Lady Bisons had 16 kills in the set.

SECOND SET

Harding again jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the second set. Ouachita Baptist fought back to pull within one 12-11 on a 7-2 run. The Lady Bisons blew the set open on a 7-2 run to lead 19-13. Harding went on to win the set 25-20. The Lady Bisons held Ouachita Baptist to hitting .071 in the set.

THIRD SET

Harding had a 20-15 lead in the third set before Ouachita Baptist went on a 4-0 run to pull within one 20-19. The Lady Bisons had a 24-23 lead and won the match on a kill by Zoe Hardin.

-          Harding was led by Zoe Hardin who had a match-high 11 kills and seven blocks.

-          Emma Reeves and Emily Clayton each added nine kills for the Lady Bisons.

-          Rachel Heussner had 36 assists and eight digs for Harding.

-          Taylor Lake led the defense with 21 digs.

-          Harding had 46 kills and hit .227 in the match.

Ouachita Baptist

-          Paige Williams led the Tigers with a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs.

-          Stormi Leonard had 34 assists and 12 digs for Ouachita  Baptist.

-          The defense was led by Nikki Clay who had 17 digs.

UP NEXT

Harding will play its first of a three-match road trip Thursday when it travels to Magnolia, Arkansas to face Southern Arkansas. First serve is at 6 p.m.
