SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team defeated Southern Nazarene 3-1 Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Stevens Soccer Complex.
The Lady Bisons improve to 5-6-0 on the season and 5-2-0 in the GAC.
Southern Nazarene falls to 2-11-0 overall and 1-6-0 in the GAC.
GOALS
Harding 1, Southern Nazarene 0 – 23rd minute –
Parker Smitherman hit a chip shot over the goalkeepers hands for her second goal of the season.
Harding 2, Southern Nazarene 0 – 58th minute –
Bethany Sutherland sent a cross from the left side to the 6-yard box for
Melanie Matkins to clean up. It was Matkins' third goal of the season.
Harding 2, Southern Nazarene 1 – 77th minute – Karsyn Matthews found Kelsi Bussert who shot from 22-yards out. It was her sixth goal of the season.
Harding 3, Southern Nazarene 1 – 78th minute –
Yuri Richardson dribbled through the defense and found
Emma Welch at the top of the 6-yard box for the toe poke. It was Welch's fifth goal of the season.
STATS
Harding took 35 shots in the game, 15 were on target.
The Lady Bisons held Southern Nazarene to five shots, the lone goal was the only one on frame.
Bethany Sutherland led Harding with eight shots, three were on goal.
Melanie Matkins,

Madison Massoth each had four shots for Harding.
