Emma Welch Scores Golden Goal; Women’s Soccer Defeats East Central 3-2 in Overtime

SEARCY – Emma Welch found the back of the net in the 93rd minute of the first overtime to lift the Harding women's soccer team over East Central 3-2 Saturday in Great American Conference action.

The Lady Bisons improve to 4-6-0 on the season and 4-2-0 in the GAC.

East Central falls to 3-9-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, East Central 0 – 43rd minute – Morgan Proffitt dribbled through the defense and shot from 20-yards out. It was her first goal of the season.

Harding 2, East Central 0 – 56th minute – Michelle Morgan hit a cross to Emma Welch who found the back of the net from the right side of the box. It was her third goal of the season.

Harding 2, East Central 1 – 66th minute – Lorianne Baugh took a shot that found the top right corner of the net.

Harding 2, East Central 2 – 76th minute – Alexis Castillo found the back of the net for East Central.

Harding 3, East Central 2 – 93rd minute – Emma Welch found the back of the net for the game winning goal. It was her fourth goal of the season and her second career game-winning goal.

STATS

Harding took seven shots, four were on goal. Both of Emma Welch's shots found the back of the net.

East Central took 25 shots, 15 were on goal. Stephanie Wainscott took six shots, four were on goal.

The Lady Bisons played with 10 players for over 50 minutes of the contest after a Harding red card.
