SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team swept Arkansas-Monticello 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-16) Thursday in Great American Conference action. It marked the final regular season match of the season for the Lady Bisons.
After the match, Harding recognized Taylor Eubank, Emily Clayton, Madison Poen, Zoe Hardin, Emma Reeves, Taylor Lake and Rachel Heussner for their contributions to the Harding volleyball program.
The Lady Bisons are the 2018 Regular Season Champions and will be the No. 1 seed in the GAC Tournament November 8-10 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was Harding's fourth GAC regular season championship. Harding will face Northwestern Oklahoma, the No. 8 seed, at 5 p.m., in the first round of the tournament on November 8.
The Lady Bisons improve to 22-7 overall and 15-1 in the GAC.
Arkansas-Monticello falls to 6-26 overall and 3-13 in the GAC.
FIRST SET
With the first set tied at six, Harding went on a 7-1 run to lead 13-7. The Lady Bisons went on to win the set 25-14. Harding had 14 kills and hit .344 in the set and held Arkansas-Monticello to hitting .125.
SECOND SET
Harding jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the second set before Arkansas-Monticello battled back to pull within two, 13-11. Leading by two, 18-16, the Lady Bisons closed the set on a 7-3 run to win 25-19. Harding had 16 kills in the set.
THIRD SET
With the third set tied at 10, Harding went on a 12-3 run to lead 22-13. The Lady Bisons won the set 25-16. Harding had 12 kills in the set.
