ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The 10th-ranked Harding softball team fell to Henderson State in a Great American Conference doubleheader Friday. The Reddies came out on top, 3-0 and 2-1.
Harding falls to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in the GAC.
Henderson State improves to 13-4 overall and 5-1 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (Henderson State 3, Harding 0)
- Henderson State got on the board in the third, scoring two runs on two hits. Selena Mendoza singled in a run and then the Reddies stole home for the second run.
- Henderson State picked up its third run in the sixth when Lindsey Williams singled in a run.
Game One Key Statistics
- Henderson State had nine hits in the game and held Harding to one.
- Kailey Reese and Nadia Ballarin each had two hits for the Reddies.
- Katlyn Gordon had Harding's only hit.
- Michelle Sorensen picked up the win and improved to 6-1. She threw the complete game shutout, walked two and struck out seven.
- Amanda Berry received the loss and falls to 3-1.
Game Two Key Innings (Henderson State 2, Harding 1)
- Harding scored the first run of the game in the third inning when Peyton Mills hit a single to center field that drove in Lindsey Duncan from second.
- Henderson State answered back with two runs off two hits and a Harding error in the bottom of the inning. Madie Green hit a two-run home run to left field for the Reddies.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had five hits in the game, all by different players.
- Henderson State had six hits, leading the way was Bethany Allen who went 2-for-3.
- Sydney Bonner got the win for Henderson State, pitching four innings. She gave up four hits, one earned run, walked two and had one strikeout.
- Michelle Sorensen picked up her first save of the season in two innings of relief for the Reddies. She gave up one hit and struck out two.
- Harding starter Emily Garrett received the loss and falls to 4-1 on the season. She gave up six hits, no earned runs, walked two and struck out two.
