SEARCY – The 10th-ranked Harding softball team split a nonconference doubleheader against Delta State Tuesday at the Harding Softball Field. Delta State took the first game 10-3 and Harding won the second game 4-1.
Harding moves to 12-4 overall and Delta State moves to 11-12.
Game One Key Innings (Delta State 10, Harding 3)
- Delta State started the game in the first with two runs on four hits highlighted by a two RBI single by Kaitlyn Eaves.
- The Lady Statesmen added five more runs on seven hits in the second inning.
- Harding got on the board in the second when Kyndal Pirtle grounded out to third that scored a run.
- Delta State got another run in the fifth on two hits.
- The Lady Bisons got two runs off a Lindsey Duncan triple in the sixth inning.
- The Lady Statesmen made it a 10-3 game in the seventh after scoring two runs on three hits.
Game One Key Statistics
- Delta State had 18 hits in the game, led by Mallory Myers who went 4-for-5 with two RBI. Abi Gibson and Kelly Byrd each had three hits for the Lady Statesmen.
- Harding had seven hits with Peyton Mills and Lindsey Duncan each having two.
- Nicole Fullilove got the win for Delta State and improves to 3-1. She threw the complete game, gave up three earned runs and struck out four.
- Amanda Berry received the loss for Harding and falls to 3-2.
Game Two Key Innings (Harding 4, Delta State 1)
- After three and a half scoreless innings, Harding scored two runs on three hits in the fourth inning on RBI by Madison Leggett and Madi Trump.
- Harding made it a 4-0 game in the fifth scoring two runs on two hits on an Amanda Fields double to left center.
- Delta State got on the board in the sixth when Mallory Myers singled through the left side to score Mari Alex Sandridge from third.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had five hits in the game by five different players with four of the hits being doubles.
- Delta State had seven hits, led by Mallory Myers who went 2-for-4.
- Emma Dwyer picked up the win for Harding and improves to 4-1. It was her third complete game. She gave up one earned run and struck out three against 32 batters.
- Taylor Johnson received the loss for Delta State and falls to 5-5 on the season. She threw 3 1/3 innings, gave up two earned runs and struck out two.
