ALVA, Okla. – The Harding softball team fell to Northwestern Oklahoma Friday in Great American Conference play. The Rangers won 4-0 and 2-1.
Harding falls to 29-23 overall and 21-21 in the GAC.
Northwestern Oklahoma improves to 16-32 overall and 15-27 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (Northwestern Okla. 4, Harding 0)
- Northwestern Oklahoma got two runs in the first inning off three hits. Madi Parrott scored on a wild pitch and Madison McGraw singled in the second run.
- The Rangers added two more runs in the fifth off a hit and an error. Jada Overby hit a two-run home run to left field for Northwestern Oklahoma.
Game One Key Statistics
- Northwestern Oklahoma had eight hits with Jordan Sutton and Katie Bell each having two.
- Katlyn Gordon and Kyndal Pirtle each had a hit for Harding.
- Madison Garza received the win to improve to 5-16. She threw the complete game shutout and struck out nine.
- Harding's starter Emily Garrett received the loss and falls to 9-6. She pitched five innings and had three strikeouts. Amanda Berry pitched a hitless inning of relief.
Game Two Key Innings (Northwestern Okla. 2, Harding 1)
- Northwestern Oklahoma took a 1-0 lead in the first off two hits. Madison McGraw picked up the RBI in the inning when she singled through the left side.
- Harding's run came in the second when Amanda Fields hit a solo home run to left center. It was her fourth of the season.
- The eventual game-winning run came in the third for the Rangers. Madi Parrott hit a solo home run to left field.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had six hits with Peyton Mills going 2-for-3.
- Northwestern Oklahoma had five hits led by Madi Parrott who went 2-for-3.
- Karly Murray picked up the win to improve to 9-15 for the Rangers. She pitched the complete game and struck out five.
- Emma Dwyer received the loss and falls to 11-10. In 2 1/3 innings she gave up three hits and struck out two. Amanda Berry pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief and gave up two hits.
