RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league's volleyball awards for fifth week of the 2019 season. Oklahoma Baptist's Hayley Daniel collected the Offensive Player honor; Northwestern Oklahoma State's Sydnee Miller earned the Defensive Player accolade and Harding's Sarah Morehead claimed the Setter award.
GAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hayley Daniel, Oklahoma Baptist, OH, Jr., Edmond, Oklahoma
Daniel paces the Bison offense in victories against Southern Nazarene and Southwestern Oklahoma State that kept Oklahoma Baptist atop the GAC standings and pushed its win streak to 11. She hit .500 in the three-set triumph against the Crimson Storm. She notched 16 kills, 14 digs and five total blocks against the Bulldogs.
GAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sydnee Miller, Northwestern Oklahoma State, L, Jr., Raymore, Missouri
Miller averaged GAC best 6.63 digs per set as the Rangers picked up four-set wins against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Southeastern Oklahoma State to extend their win streak to three. She tallied 23 digs against the Javelinas. Against the Savage Storm, she totaled at least 30 digs for the third time this season.
GAC SETTER OF THE WEEK – Sarah Morehead, Harding, Fr., Aledo, Texas
Morehead helped the Lady Bisons record three-set victories against Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas. She dished out 77 assists and averaged a GAC-leading 12.83 per set. She recorded a double-double against the Blossoms as she amassed 39 assists and 12 digs. She ranks third in the GAC in assists per set, 8.97.
