CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Harding softball team defeated Lee 3-2 Sunday in the final game of the NFCA DII Leadoff Classic.
Harding went 4-1 in the tournament and had wins over No. 3 North Georgia and No. 5 Saint Leo.
Briley Feringa was named to the All-Tournament Team. She hit .533 in the tournament.
Game One Key Innings (Harding 3, Lee 2)
- Lee took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning off four hits. Kiley Longmire had a two RBI single in the inning.
- Harding got a run back in the second when Mary Mills Lochala grounded out but Hanna Jones scored on the play.
- The Lady Bisons took the lead in the third on RBI singles by Briley Feringa and Amanda Fields.
Game One Key Statistics
- Each team had seven hits in the game.
- Harding was led by Kiley Persons who went 2-for-3.
- Pyper James got the win for Harding to improve to 2-0 on the season. She threw four innings, gave up six hits, two earned runs and had three strikeouts.
- Emma Dwyer got the save for Harding in three innings of relief. She gave up one hit and had three strikeouts.
- Taylor De Adder received the loss for Lee. She falls to 2-2 on the season.

- Harding will participate in the Alvy Early UAM Softball Classic next weekend in Bentonville, Arkansas. The Lady Bisons are scheduled to open the tournament Friday at 9 a.m., against Minnesota State Mankato.
