Harding Women's Tennis Wins Home Opener over UMSL

SEARCY - Harding won the doubles point and five singles matches for a 6-1 victory over Missouri-St. Louis Sunday in the Lady Bisons's home opener at the HU Tennis Courts.

Harding won its fourth straight match and improved to 7-1 overall. Missouri-St. Louis, a member of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference, dropped to 1-1.

The Lady Bisons picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Hana Folse and Arisa Takanashi improved to 4-2 with a win at No. 2, and Allison and Emily Carpenter won at No. 3 to improve to a team-best 10-4.

Harding needed three singles wins and collected five with Lindy Carpenter earning the clinching point with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 6. It was her eighth straight win and 12th of the season. Rylie Cox won in three sets at No. 1 for her 10th consecutive singles victory. Cox is now 13-1 in singles.

Harding plays at home again Thursday against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
