RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Harding softball team dropped both games of the Great American Conference doubleheader at Arkansas Tech Tuesday. The Golden Suns won 3-1 and 8-1.
The two teams will wrap up their four-game series April 9th with a doubleheader in Searcy.
Harding falls to 20-14 overall and 12-10 in the GAC.
Arkansas Tech improves to 20-12 overall and 14-6 in the GAC.
Game One Key Innings (Arkansas Tech 3, Harding 1)
- Arkansas Tech took a 1-0 lead in the first when Tymber Riley singled in a run for the Golden Suns.
- Harding tied the game in the fourth when Madison Leggett doubled in Lauren Bazan.
- Arkansas Tech answered back with a run in the bottom of the fourth off of three hits. Paty Lorendo singled in a run.
- The Golden Suns added an insurance run in the sixth when Makenzie Goins singled in a run.
Game One Key Statistics
- Arkansas Tech had eight hits with Paty Loredo and Makenzie Goins each having two.
- Harding had six hits led by Madison Leggett who went 2-for-3.
- Harding left seven runners on base.
- Megan Goodnight got the win for Arkansas Tech to improve to 7-0 on the season. She went the distance, gave up one earned run and had two strikeouts.
- Jenna Hipp received the loss for Harding and falls to 8-4. She pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up three earned runs and had one strikeout.
- Emma Dwyer pitched 2/3 innings of relief and had one strikeout for Harding.
Game Two Key Innings (Arkansas Tech 8, Harding 1)
- After 2 ½ scoreless innings, Arkansas Tech blew the game open when it scored six runs on six hits. Five different players drove in a run.
- The Golden Suns added another run in the fifth when Coronado singled in a run.
- Briley Feringa hit a solo home run in the sixth for Harding. It was her fifth on the season.
- Arkansas Tech made it 8-1 in the sixth when Hensen got a RBI on a fielder's choice.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Arkansas Tech had nine hits led by Megan Goodnight who went 2-for-4.
- Harding was held to four hits, all by different players.
- The Lady Bisons left eight runners on base.
- Kristen Dempsey got the win for Arkansas Tech and improves to 6-3. She went seven innings, gave up one earned run and had seven strikeouts.
- Pyper James received the loss and falls to 4-5 on the season.
- Harding threw five different pitchers in the game.

- Harding will be back in action this weekend when it hosts Northwestern Oklahoma. The series is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
