Harding Women's Tennis Downs Oklahoma Baptist to Reach GAC Final

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Harding women's tennis, the No. 2 seed in the Great American Conference Tournament, defeated No. 3 seed Oklahoma Baptist 4-2 Friday to advance to the finals Saturday at 2 p.m. Harding will take on No. 1 seed Southern Arkansas, who defeated Arkansas Tech 4-3 Friday.

Harding improved to 16-5 overall with its fourth consecutive win. The Lady Bisons will play in the final for the first time since winning the tournament championship in 2014.

Harding led 3-2 with two matches left on court—Rylie Cox, Harding's No. 1, was locked in a tight third set with Kim Moosbacher, the GAC Player of the Year, and Hana Folse was a set up and headed to a second straight tie-breaker. Harding needed one of the two matches to clinch the win.

Folse finished first, closing out a 7-6, 7-6 victory over Tahlia Walsh at No. 4 to send Harding to the finals.

Harding also collected singles wins from Arisa Takanashi at No. 2, her 10th consecutive singles victory, and Allison Carpenter at No. 6.

Harding started the match by taking the doubles point. Cox and Takanashi won 7-5 at No. 1 and Allison and Emily Carpenter won 6-2 at No. 3.

The win was Harding's first in six matches all-time against Oklahoma Baptist.
