Harding Volleyball in the Dominican Republic - Day 1

Harding volleyball is on a preseason trip in the Dominican Republic, playing volleyball and interacting with members of the community. Below is a summary of Day 1 from Harding sophomore Cooper Monn.

Hello friends and family!

We just wanted to let you all know that we had an amazing first day! Today (July 30) we first went to Spring in the Desert Day Care where we got to play with and show God's love to little kids. It was amazing to see all the different personalities of these children. There were some who jumped right into our arms and stayed there the whole time, some who played and tugged on our hair and some who were, at first, a bit confused about what to think of all of us. But with some stickers and balloons we were able to get them to smile and laugh.

The second thing we did was play volleyball in Hato Mayor with a local team. It was cool to see this multi-aged team play and laugh together and also see their community come and cheer them on. After playing we got to minister to them with our missionary and translator, McNelais. Today Arika shared about the love of Christ in her life and how we are his beloved children. I was personally touched by the prayer a woman (whom I believe was the mother of one of the players) gave after our match. She prayed that we would stay safe and be able to share the light of God to all the people we meet.

Those were our two big activities today. We also ate some different and good food, saw the beach, waved to almost everyone we saw while driving, and got to bond even more with each other!
