KEARNEY, Nebraska – Melanie Spurgeon was fouled in the box by the goalkeeper in the first overtime Friday on the opening day of the UNK Fall Classic. Spurgeon found the lower right corner of the net on the penalty kick to give the Lady Bisons the win. It was the first time in program history Harding has won its season opener in overtime.
It was the first ever meeting between the two teams.
The Lady Bisons moves to 1-0-0 on the season.
Wayne State falls to 0-1-0 on the season.

Harding 1, Wayne State 0 – 95th minute – Melanie Spurgeon converted the penalty kick. It was her ninth career goal and her third game-winning goal.
