SEARCY – The Harding softball team split its two games Sunday on the final day of the Harding Invitational at the HU Softball Field. The Lady Bisons fell to Drury 2-1 and then run ruled Delta State 9-1 in five innings.
Harding improves to 5-3 on the season.
Game One Key Innings (Drury 2, Harding 1)
- After a Harding error, Drury's Jacy Ummel hit a double down the left field line to score Abby Tiemann from first.
- Harding tied the game in the third when Briley Feringa hit a single to left field that scored Hanna Jones from second.
- Abby Tiemann scored a on a wild pitch for Drury in the fifth inning to make it 2-1.
Game One Key Statistics
- Harding had six hits with Briley Feringa and Aidan Nichols each having two.
- Drury had four hits as Jacy Ummel went 2-for-3.
- Haylee Van Deventer received the win for Drury to improve to 1-0. She threw the complete game and had two strikeouts.
- Jenna Hipp received the loss for Harding and falls to 1-1 on the season. Hipp went five innings and struck out four. Emma Dwyer pitched one inning of relief and had two strikeouts.
Game Two Key Innings (Harding 9, Delta State 1 – 5 innings)
- Delta State got on the board first in the second inning when Kailyn Lofton scored on a Harding error.
- The Lady Bisons answered back scoring four runs on two hits in the bottom of the second. Mary Mills Lochala doubled to left field to score two runs. Hanna Jones tripled in Lochala from second and Nicole Shano was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
- Harding got another run in the third on a RBI single by Mary Mills Lochala.
- The Lady Bisons made it a 6-1 game in the fourth when Lindsey Duncan hit a double down the left field line that scored Madison Fraley from second.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, Harding scored three runs on four hits. Aidan Nichols singled in Hanna Jones and Briley Feringa hit a double to left center that scored pinch runner Faith Waugh. Madison Fraley hit a single to center that scored Sage Barnes from second for Harding's final run.
Game Two Key Statistics
- It was Harding's first run rule of the season.
- Harding had nine hits in the game. Hanna Jones and Mary Mills Lochala each had two.
- It was Madison Fraley's first colligate hit for Harding.
- Aidan Nichols got the win for Harding and improves to 3-1 on the season. She didn't give up an earned run and gave up only three hits.
- Olivia Burns received the loss for Delta State and falls to 2-3 on the season.

- Harding will be back in action next weekend when it travels to Bentonville, Arkansas for the Alvy Early/UAM Softball Classic. The Lady Bisons will play four games and will open with Missouri Southern on Friday at 10 a.m.
