Lady Bison Soccer Wins Big at Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. – The Harding women's soccer team defeated Southern Nazarene 6-0 Saturday in Great American Conference action.

It was the largest margin over victory the Lady Bisons have had over Southern Nazarene and the most goals scored.

Harding improves to 3-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the GAC.

Southern Nazarene falls to 1-7-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, Southern Nazarene – 8th minute – Parker Smitherman scored her first goal of the season from 25-yards out.

Harding 2, Southern Nazarene – 32nd minute – Emma Roberts sent a throughball to Carmen Gunn who found the right corner of the net. It was her first goal of the season.

Harding 3, Southern Nazarene – 56th minute – Sophie Capitanelli found the top center of the net for her first goal of the season.

Harding 4, Southern Nazarene – 64th minute – Carmen Gunn got her second goal of the game when she dribbled down the line and found the far-right corner of the net.

Harding 5, Southern Nazarene – 80th minute – Emma Roberts cleaned up her own shot after the goalkeeper dropped her first attempt. It was Roberts' fifth goal of the season.

Harding 6, Southern Nazarene – 83rd minute – Briley-Anne Brown slid a across to the center of the box for Emma Roberts' second goal of the game.

STATS

Harding took 26 shots, 12 were on goal. Emma Roberts took six shots and Carmen Gunn had five shots.

Southern Nazarene took 12 shots, three were on goal.

Payton Milby got the shutout between the posts for Harding with three saves. It was her collegiate solo shutout. Milby previously had two combined shutouts with Michaela Potter.

It was the second time this season Harding has scored five or more goals in a game. The Lady Bisons scored five at home against Ozarks.

Samantha Rupe and Grace Ann Green both played the full 90 minutes for Harding.

Harding will be back in action at home Thursday when it hosts Northwestern Oklahoma at 5 p.m., at the Stevens Soccer Complex.
