SEARCY – Emma Roberts scored four goals as the Harding women's soccer team defeated Southern Nazarene 9-0 Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Stevens Soccer Complex.
Harding improves to 5-8-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the GAC.
Southern Nazarene falls to 1-13-0 and 0-8-0 in the GAC.
GOALS
Harding 1, Southern Nazarene 0 – 9th minute – Parker Smitherman sent a throughball up right side that found Emma Roberts for her 12th goal of the season.
Harding 2, Southern Nazarene 0 – 14th minute – Carmen Gun sent in a cross from the left side that found Briley-Anne Brown for her third goal of the season.
Harding 3, Southern Nazarene 0 – 14th minute – Parker Smitherman dribbled down the middle and then sent a cross to the left side that found Carmen Gunn for her fourth goal of the season.
Harding 4, Southern Nazarene 0 – 47th minute – Parker Smitherman sent in a corner kick that Emma Roberts tapped in.
Harding 5, Southern Nazarene 0 – 58th minute – Emma Roberts scored on a penalty kick.
Harding 6, Southern Nazarene 0 – 69th minute – Melissa Ventura sent a cross from the right side that found Emma Roberts for her fourth goal of the game.
Harding 7, Southern Nazarene 0 – 76th minute – Briley-Anne Brown stole the ball from the defense and found the top right corner of the net.
Harding 8, Southern Nazarene 0 – 84th minute – Briley-Anne Brown stole the ball from the defense and scored her third goal of the game.
Harding 9, Southern Nazarene 0 – 88th minute – Lauren Service sent a cross from the right side to Kelli Tindel who found the back of the net from the top of the 18-yard box.
STATS
Harding took a season-high 33 shots in the game, 16 were on goal. It was the most shots in a game since the Lady Bisons had 39 vs. Southern Nazarene in 2018.
Briley-Anne Brown led Harding with eight shots, four were on goal.
Emma Roberts' four goals were the second most in program history. It was the fourth time a Harding player has scored four or more goals in a game. Kendyl Washburn scored the Harding record five against Christian Brothers in 2007.
Parker Smitherman's three assists was a career high. It tied for third most in a game in program history.
It was the sixth time in program history Harding has scored nine or more goals in a game. The Lady Bisons scored a program record 11 goals against Delta State in 2003.
Payton Milby had two saves in goal for Harding. It was her second solo shutout of the season. She also combined with Michaela Potter for two more shutouts.

Harding will be back in action Thursday when it travels to Alva, Oklahoma to take on Northwestern Oklahoma. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
