No. 10 Harding Wins Eighth Straight, Downs Southwestern Oklahoma 55-7

SEARCY – Seventeen different rushers combined to gain 459 yards and score seven touchdowns, and the defense limited Southwestern Oklahoma to only seven first downs and no third-down conversions as the 10th-ranked Harding Bisons won 55-7 Saturday in Great American Conference play on Senior Day at First Security Stadium.

The victory extended Harding's winning streak to an NCAA Division II-best 13 games and the Bisons moved to 9-1 overall and in conference. Southwestern Oklahoma lost its 10th straight road game and fell to 0-10.

Harding scored more than 40 points for the fifth straight game and topped 50 points in each of its last three games.

Harding's seven rushing scores came from seven different players, including a 2-yard TD from Cole Chancey. He has scored at least one TD in 16 straight GAC games and became only the second Harding player with 20 rushing TD in a season.

A 28-yard TD pass from Preston Paden to James Townsdin with 5:11 left in the first quarter gave Harding a 13-0 lead. It was Harding's first completed pass in three games. Taylor Bissell put the Bisons ahead 20-0 with a 9-yard scoring run.

Harding added three rushing TD in the second quarter with Jhalen Spicer (2 yards), Omar Sinclair (36 yards) and Robert Wilcke (1 yard) all scoring. Harding has scored more points in the second quarter of games this season (146) than its opponents have total (125).

Harding led 41-0 at halftime.

The Bisons had two more scoring drives in the second half with Will Fitzhugh (8 yards) and Blake Delacruz (1 yard) reaching the end zone.

Southwestern, who was 0-for-11 on third down, scored on a 50-yard pass from Lafayette Wright to Justin Bailey in the third quarter. The last time Harding held an opponent without a third-down conversion was in a 58-0 victory over Southern Nazarene in 2014, when the Crimson Storm was 0-for-10 on third down.

Omar Sinclair had three carries for 64 yards to lead the Bison rushing attack.

Harding had 506 total yards, topping the 500-yard plateau for the second straight game.

Defensively, Harding held Southwestern to only 24 rushing yards on 21 carries.

The Bisons, ranked No. 2 in the Super Region 3 rankings, play their final home game of the season next Saturday against Arkansas Tech in Russellville. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
