The Harding men's tennis team lost 6-1 against 25
th-ranked Southwest Baptist on Friday in Missouri. The Bisons have now lost six straight matches against the Bearcats. Harding last beat Southwest Baptist on February 28, 2014.
The Bisons were swept in the doubles matches for only the second time this season. The Bearcats won the doubles point by winning 6-3 at both No. 2 and No. 3.
Luis Tirado and
Dani Ortiz fell at No. 2 in their first match as partners and
Diego Pierola and
Will Reeves lost at No. 3 in Reeves first appearance on the season.
Morgan Salvan and Alvaro de Lorenzo snapped a four-match win streak at No. 1, losing 6-7.
Ortiz won the only point for the Bisons on the day with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2, his sixth win of the season. Harding had three singles matches go to three sets but dropped all of them. Salvan fell at No. 3, 5-7, 7-5, 3-6. Tirado fell at No. 4, 3-6, 6-4, 3-6.
Diego Pierola made his singles debut and won the first set before dropping the last two and the match at No. 6. De Lorenzo snapped a five-match win streak with a 4-6, 5-7 loss at No. 5.
The Bisons will look to end their two-match skid on March 31 when they take on their second straight ranked opponent, No. 24 Southern Arkansas in a GAC matchup beginning at 2 p.m. in Searcy.
