The Harding men's tennis team defeated Oklahoma Baptist 7-0 on Saturday in a matchup of regionally ranked opponents. The Bisons (8-4, 2-0) came into the match ranked fifth in the Central Region while Oklahoma Baptist (1-16, 0-5) was ranked 10
th.
The Bisons won the first two doubles matches to secure the point for the 10
th time this season.
Morgan Salvan and Alvaro de Lorenzo won at No. 1 6-2 and
Luis Tirado and
Diego Pierola won at No. 3, 6-3, for both pairs third straight wins, and seventh overall.
Tirado surrendered just one game at No. 4, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Arthur Bellan won his second straight match at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2.
Dani Ortiz clinched the match with his fourth straight win in a third set tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6. De Lorenzo won his team high 10
th match of the season 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5.
Bryce Walker won his third straight match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
Salvan finished the match with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 win at No. 3. The win was Salvan's 60
th career match win, making him only the 15
th player in school history to surpass 60 career singles victories.
The Bisons will look to continue their longest winning streak of the season on Sunday when they take on Southeastern Oklahoma in another matchup of regionally ranked opponents, beginning at 10 a.m.
