The Harding women's tennis team swept Delta State 7-0 on Saturday in their regular season finale to improve to 14-2 on the year while the Statesmen dropped to 4-10. It was the fourth time this season that the Lady Bisons had won a match without dropping a set.
Emily Carpenter and
Rylie Cox Evans started the match with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles for their tenth win of the season.
Romane Britt and
Lindy Carpenter clinched the doubles point for the Lady Bisons with a 6-2 win at No. 2.
Allison Carpenter and
Hana Folse won their fifth straight match, 6-3 at No. 3.
Allison Carpenter won the first singles match of the day, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6. Her sister, Lindy scored the third point of the match for the Lady Bisons winning by the exact same 6-1, 6-1 score at No. 5. Britt clinched the match with her 14
th match win of the season, a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3.
With the match already secured,
Emily Carpenter won at No. 2, 6-2, 7-6. Cox Evans won her seventh straight match 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1. Folse finished the sweep off with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4.
The Lady Bisons will return to action of April 23 in the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament at 3 p.m.
