The Harding women's tennis team saw their 10-match win streak come to an end in the first round of the Central Regional Tournament on Friday, as they fell to Northwest Missouri State 4-1 in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Lady Bisons conclude their season with a 16-3 overall record.
The Lady Bisons began the match by losing the doubles point for the first time in 15 matches. After losing the set at No. 3,
Romane Britt and
Lindy Carpenter won their fourth straight match, 6-4 at No. 1. It was the pairs team-leading 14
th win of the season and
Lindy Carpenter's 40
th career doubles victory. The Bearcats responded however with a win at No. 2 and securing the doubles point.
The Bearcats went up 2-0 in the match with a win at No. 1 before
Allison Carpenter scored the lone point for the Lady Bisons, with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Allison Carpenter finished her season with a 13-1 record in singles play. She now is 14
th all-time in best singles record with a .742 winning percentage. . Northwest Missouri State would win the match with straight set victories at No. 2 and No. 5 to advance to the semifinals.
The Lady Bisons fell to 3-9 in overall in the NCAA Tournament. Senior
Hana Folse finished the season tied for the fourth most doubles wins in program history with 69. Folse is also 14
th all-time in best doubles record with a .704 winning percentage. Britt put together one a special freshman season. Britt's 15-2 mark in singles on the year was the fourth best single season record in program history.
