Harding Men Win Season-Opening Meet at Ouachita Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding freshman Luke Walling cruised to a 10-second victory in his first collegiate cross-country meet Saturday, winning the 8K Bob Gravett Invitational Saturday at Ouachita Baptist.

Walling was one of four Harding runners in the top eight and helped the Bisons eke out a three-point victory over Ouachita, 27-30, in the seven-team event.

Walling won in 25 minutes, 16.3 seconds, outpacing Ouachita freshman Lawrence Whitt, who placed second in 25:26.8.

Harding freshman Dylan Mayberry was third in 25:43.4 and two-time Great American Conference champion Dylan Douglas was fourth in 25:43.4. Freshman Matt Ingalsbe placed eighth (seven points) in 26:25.3, and freshman Haydon Spaulding rounded out Harding's scoring runners with a 15th-place finish (12 points) in 27:27.2.

Harding runs again Friday at home. The meet begins at 6 p.m. at the Harding cross-country course, located at 1214 Fuller Lane in Searcy.
