Harding Men's Track Posts Six Provisional Marks at Washburn Open

TOPEKA, Kan. – Competing in a meet with more than 60 teams, the Harding men's indoor track and field team recorded six NCAA provisional marks, won two event victories and broke a pair of school records at the Washburn Open, held at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.

To qualify for the national championship meet, athletes must first reach the NCAA provisional standard.

Harding had three members of the pole vault squad reach the provisional mark. Sophomore Dorian Chaigneau won the event by clearing 5.00 meters (16-4.75). Freshman Kylor Aguilar was second at 4.90 meters (16-0.75) and senior Austin Parrish was fourth at 4.80 meters (15-9).

Sophomore Fallou Gaye clocked a provisional time of 48.03 seconds in the 400 meters. Sophomore Dakarai Bush hit the mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.11 seconds, and the Harding 4x400-meter relay team of Gaye, Nikolasz Csokas, Thibault Waeles and Bush recorded a provisional time of 3:15.77.

Chaigneau won the pole vault, and Harding's other individual victory came from freshman Antiwain Jones in the high jump. Jones cleared 1.95 meters (6-4.75).

The two school records came in the 200 meters and the 600 yard run. Sophomore Tad Kirby broke his own school record in the 200 with a time of 22.08, and Waeles set a new mark of 1:11.94 in the 600 yards.

Harding has seven individuals and one relay team provisionally qualified for the national meet. Four of the Bisons's provisional qualifiers are in the pole vault where Parrish ranks fifth nationally (5.01m), Chaigneau is sixth (5.00m), Aguilar is 17th (4.90m) and Jonathan Wall is 23rd (4.81m). Gaye is sixth in the 400 meters (48.03). Bush is 18th in the 60-meter hurdles (8.11), and Waeles is 26th in the 800 meters (1:52.39).

Harding's 4x400-meter relay team ranks 11th (3:15.77).

Harding's next action is Feb. 4-5 at the MSSU Lion Invitational, hosted by Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
