Hindman Wins at Missouri Southern, Becomes HU's Fifth Provisional Pole Vaulter

SEARCY – Harding men's indoor track sent members north to Missouri and south to Texas to compete this weekend.

Harding sent nine student-athletes to the MSSU Lion Open & Multi in Joplin, Missouri, and all seven placed in the top five.

Senior Alex Hindman turned in Harding's lone event victory in the pole vault. He cleared an NCAA provision height of 4.90 meters (16-0.75), his career-best indoor height. It was Hindman's first career indoor victory, and he became the fifth different Bison to provisional qualify in the pole vault this season.

Harding had three other top-10 finishes, two coming in the 3,000 meters. Freshman Matt Ingalsbe placed fifth in his first collegiate 3,000 with a time of 9:24.20. Sophomore Tyler Harrod was 10th in 9:42.81.

Freshman Wes Laughary was sixth in the 800 meters with an indoor PR of 2:09.08.

Harding senior Matt Hipshire competed in the pentathlon at the Charlie Thomas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

Hipshire placed 11th with 4,647 points, just off his season-high of 4,736 at Washburn.
