The Harding men's tennis jumped out to an early lead but lost four consecutive singles matches and fell to 14
th-ranked Northwest Missouri St. 4-2 at the Elliott Tennis Complex on Wednesday. Harding falls to 7-2 on the year and Northwest Missouri St. improves to 3-2.
Harding started the match by winning the doubles point for the eighth time in nine matches this season.
Arthur Bellan and
Dani Ortiz returned to the No. 1 line for the first time in nearly a month and won their eighth straight match as a pair, 6-2. Alvaro de Lorenzo and
Morgan Salvan won their eighth match of the season 6-0 at No. 1.
Salvan pushed the Bisons lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 for his 68
th career singles victory. The Bearcats stormed back and took the next four matches to take the match. Bellan battled with the 16
th-ranked singles player in the country but eventually fell 3-6, 3-6 at No. 1.
Bryce Walker lost a tight match at No. 5, 2-6, 5-7.
Milosh Petrovic fell 5-7, 2-6 at No. 6.
Dani Ortiz took a set from the 6
th-ranked player in the Division II but fell 1-6, 6-3, 3-6.
The Bisons will return to action on Thursday March 17 when they host Auburn-Montgomery in Searcy, beginning at 10 a.m.
