The No. 60 Harding men's tennis team fell behind 2-0 to start the match against No. 70 Southeastern Oklahoma State but fought back to claim the first conference win of the season 4-3 on Thursday (April 14). Harding improves to 9-7 overall and 1-1 in MIAA play while Southeastern Oklahoma State falls to 12-8 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
The Bisons dropped the doubles point for only the third time this season.
Milosh Petrovic and
Diego Pierola picked up the only win in doubles action for the Bisons with an easy 6-1 win at No. 3.
After the Savage Storm took a 2-0 lead after a Bisons retirement at No. 2,
Morgan Salvan won his tenth dual match with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3.
Dani Ortiz picked up his third win over a nationally ranked player this season with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1.
Alvaro De Lorenzo dropped the first set at No. 4 before responding with two quick sets to take the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
With the match score at 3-2, the Savage Storm pushed it to 3-3 with a three-set win at No. 6. Petrovic needed two tiebreaker sets to pick up his tenth win of the season and won 7-6, 7-6 to clinch the match for the Bisons. Petrovic fell behind 3-6 in the second set tiebreaker and went on to win the next five points and take the match.
The Bisons will return to the Elliott Tennis Complex on Saturday (April 16) for Senior Day against Delta State beginning at 2 p.m.
