CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Harding softball team fell in both games of a non-conference doubleheader at No. 8 Rogers State Tuesday. The Lady Bisons fell 8-0 and 4-2.
Harding falls to 32-16 overall and Rogers State improves to 38-6.
GAME ONE
Junior Lilly Tanski (11-7) started and took the loss in the circle for Harding. She went 4.1 innings and struck out four.
Nicole Shano and Leigha Harris each had a hit in a game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Rogers State scored three runs on four hits in the third inning and then added five runs on seven hits in the fifth inning.
GAME NOTES
» Harding pitchers faced 28 Rogers State hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and six fly balls while striking out four.
» Rogers State was led offensively by freshman Abbey Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI.
» Andrea Morales got the win for Rogers State and improves to 22-2 overall. She threw the complete game and struck out six.
GAME TWO
Freshman E. Curry went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI, but the Harding Lady Bisons came up short in game two 4-2.
Sophomore Maegan Pistokache (11-7) started and took the loss in the circle for Harding. Sophomore Jessica Bridges came out of bullpen and pitched 2.1 innings and struck out one.
Emma Curry led the way offensively for the Lady Bisons, going 1-for-3 in the game with a double and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the top of the first inning Harding scored two runs on three hits. Emma Curry knocked in both runs when she hit a double to right center.
Rogers State took a 4-2 lead in the fourth when it scored four runs on two home runs.
GAME NOTES
» Harding pitchers faced 24 Rogers State hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and 12 fly balls while striking out one.
» Four different Harding players had a hit in the game.
» Rogers State was led offensively by sophomore Callie Yellin, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
» Sophomore M'Kayla Hillman got the win for Rogers State and improves to 13-4 overall. She gave up four hits, two runs and struck out three.
Harding will be back in action this weekend when it hosts Southwestern Oklahoma in Great American Conference action. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m.
