Gaye Sets Harding 400 Hurdles Record at ASU Red Wolf Open

JONESBORO, Ark. – Junior Fallou Gaye broke his own school record in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at the Arkansas State Red Wolf Open.

Gaye's time of 51.86 seconds won the event and was one of nine NCAA provisional marks turned in by Bison athletes. Gaye's previous record was 51.96.

Senior Thibault Waeles won the 800 meters in 1:53.80, the fastest time of the season in the 800 by a Harding athlete. Harding's team of Davion Smith, Gaye, Nikolasz Csokas and Dakarai Bush won the 4x400-meter relay with an NCAA provisional time of 3:13.94. Harding's season-best time in the 4x400 relay of 3:12.16, ranks ninth nationally.

Harding added two more provisionals in the hurdles. Bush ran 14.23 in the 110 hurdles, Harding's fastest time of the year, and Csokas clocked 51.99 in the 400 hurdles. Bush is ranked 19th nationally in the 110 hurdles, and Csokas ranks 10th in the 400 hurdles.

Freshman Antiwain Jones cleared a provisional 2.07 meters or 6 feet, 9.5 inches in the high jump. It was just off his season best of 2.08 meters which is tied for 20th in Division II.

Harding had four pole vaulters clear provisional heights – senior Austin Parrish (5.18m, 17-0), senior Alex Hindman (5.00m, 16-4.75), sophomore Dorian Chaigneau (5.00m, 16-4.75), and sophomore Jonathan Wall (4.85m, 15-11).

The Bisons have five pole vaulters ranked in the top 25 nationally – Chaigneau (fourth), Parrish (sixth), Kylor Aguilar (17th), Alex Hindman (17th) and Wall (25th).

Harding had two other athletes record the top marks of the season for the team.
Sophomore Krishaun Watson ran 10.65 in the 100 meters, and freshman Seth West threw the shot put a season-best 13.97 meters or 45 feet, 10 inches.

Other PRs set Saturday included: sophomore Jamaric Hill (22.52, 200 meters); sophomore Daniel Watrous (1:59.05, 800 meters); freshman Luke Walling (4:01.60, 1,500 meters); sophomore Tyler Harrod (4:16.34, 1,500 meters); freshman Caleb Chunn (4:24.95, 1,500 meters and 10:24.61, 3,000 steeplechase); sophomore Paxton Davis (4:27.23, 1,500 meters); sophomore Ben Ferris (6.70m, 21-11.75, long jump); sophomore Cedric Gable (14.00m, 45-11.25, triple jump); sophomore Avery Forte (12.37m, 40-7, shot put); sophomore Spencer Helms (35.39m, 116-1, hammer throw).
