MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Harding softball team shutout Southern Arkansas 2-0 Friday in Great American Conference action.
Harding improves to 28-11 overall and 15-7 in the GAC.
Southern Arkansas falls to 23-12 overall and 16-4 in the GAC.
Junior Lily Tanski (9-5) was dealing on Friday, tossing a three-hit shutout. She went the distance giving up three hits and striking out three.
Harding was led by Leigha Harris and Ashlyn Peterson who each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Sophomore Jordan Cabana went 1-for-3 with a home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harding got on the board in the first inning when Hanna Jones scored from third on a wild pitch.
The Lady Bisons made it 2-0 in the fifth when Jordan Cabana led off the inning with a home run. It was her second of the season.
GAME NOTES
» It was Tanski's second shutout and her seventh complete game of the season.
» It was the third time this season Southern Arkansas has been shutout. It was the first GAC game.
» Harding outhit Southern Arkansas 8-3.
» Tanski faced 24 Southern Arkansas hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and 11 fly balls while striking out three.
» Kiana Pogroszewski received the loss for the Muleriders and falls to 10-4 on the season. She went the distance and had seven strikeouts.
The two teams will wrap up their three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
