Walling Leads Harding to Third-Place Finish at Old Glory Gallop

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Harding junior Luke Walling finished eighth in a field of almost 300 runners Saturday at the Old Glory Gallop 8K cross-country race hosted by Dallas Baptist University.
Walling finished the course in 24:28.8 and led the Bisons to a third-place finish among 28 teams. Harding was second among six Great American Conference teams in competition.
Sophomore Arnaud des Boscs also had a top-20 finish, placing 19th in 24:55.7, and sophomore Nate Perry was 27th in 25:04.3.

TEAM NOTES
  • The Old Glory Gallop was Harding's last of four regular season races during the 2023 season. The Bisons were seventh at the Memphis Twilight, second at the Steve Guymon Invitational, and eighth at the Cowboy Stampede two weekends ago.
  • Harding competed at a meet in the Lone Star State for the first time in 25 years ... they last ran at the 1998 NCAA Division II South Region meet in Abilene, finishing eighth of 12 teams.
  • Harding's five scoring runners all finished between eighth place and 45th place and were only separated by 59 seconds.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Walling has now finished either first or second among Harding runners for all 16 races in his career.
  • Second among Harding runners was French sophomore Arnaud des Boscs … running in his second career 8K and only his third collegiate cross-country race, he placed 19th in 24:55.7.
  • Nate Perry, a sophomore, placed third among Harding runners and 27th overall in 25:04.3 … it was his fourth consecutive race to finish among the top three Bisons after never finishing higher than fourth as a freshman.
  • Senior Jackson Pruim was among Harding's scoring runners for the 19th consecutive race … he finished fourth among Bisons and 40th overall in 25:22.8.
  • Rounding out the scorers for Harding was senior Matt Ingalsbe, a scoring runner for the third time in four races this season … he finished fifth among Harding runners and 45th overall in 25:27.8
  • Harding's sixth and seventh finishers were senior Zach Reed (47th, 25:29.5) and senior Tom Valente (55th, 25:32.8).
UP NEXT
  • Harding begins its postseason run on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Great American Conference Championship in Russellville, Arkansas.
