The No. 41-ranked Harding men's tennis team battled all day long but eventually fell short against Texas-Permian Basin, falling 4-3 at home. Harding is now 7-5 this season as Texas-Permian Basin improves to 8-4.
The match began with singles action due to impending weather. The Falcons jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after victories at No. 4 and No. 2. Teodor Zlatar, the No. 10-ranked singles player in the nation, put the Bisons on the board at No. 1 with a 6-4, 6-3 win.
The Bisons evened the match at 2-2 after Milosh Petrovic needed three sets to dispatch Vitaliy Horovoy at No. 3, winning 2-6, 7-5, 10-8. The Falcons took the two final singles matches to clinch the match.
In doubles action, the Bisons swept the Falcons. At No. 1, Cian Mikkelsen and Cas De Ruiter improved to 11-0 this season with a 6-3 victory. Petrovic and Andres Urquiola grabbed the win at No. 3, 6-4.
The Bisons will travel to Springfield, Missouri tomorrow (March 17) to take on No. 18-ranked Southwest Baptist at 4 p.m.
