The Harding women's tennis team picked up a 5-1 victory over Texas-Permian Basin on Thursday at the Elliott Tennis Complex in Searcy, Arkansas. Harding improved to 6-10 on the season while the Falcons fell to 3-11.
The Lady Bisons raced out to a 3-0 lead to start the day in singles action. Georgia Plunkett picked up the first win of the day for the Lady Bisons, taking down Lisa Guitton at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2. Karli Roux backed up that win with her 15th victory of the season, winning at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2.
Lina Romero fought her way to a 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 victory at No. 3. After a Falcons victory at No. 4, Reka Pesci clinched the match for the Lady Bisons with her second consecutive match at No. 5, 4-6, 7-5, 10-1.
In doubles action, there were tiebreakers in every match and the Lady Bisons prevailed at No. 1 and No. 2. Plunkett and Grace Dodd took the 7-6 victory at No. 1 while Roux and Romero won 7-6 at No. 2.
The Lady Bisons will return to action on Friday (March 17) in Springfield, Missouri as they face Southwest Baptist, beginning at 4 p.m.
