The Harding men's tennis defeated Arkansas-Fort Smith 4-3 on the road Saturday afternoon. Harding improves to 5-3 on the season while Arkansas-Fort Smith falls to 1-3.
The Lions grabbed the first doubles match of the day but the Bisons responded with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the early 1-0 lead. Cas de Ruiter and Cian Mikkelsen won their eighth straight match, winning at No. 1, 6-3. Bryce Walker and Jaydon Van Vreden got their first win as a pair at No. 3, 7-5.
The Bisons moved out to a 3-0 lead to start singles action. Walker grabbed the first singles victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5. Andres Urquiola also grabbed a straight-sets win, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6. The Lions closed the dual score to 3-2 before de Ruiter grabbed the clinching victory in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
The Bisons will play next on Sunday (March 5) when they host Rhodes at the Elliott Tennis Complex at 2:30 p.m.
