SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team tied a school record with 16 service aces as the Lady Bisons defeated Ouachita Baptist 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-17) Thursday in Great American Conference action.
The only other time Harding had 16 aces in a match was in 2006 when the Lady Bisons defeated West Alabama 3-0 in Huntsville, Alabama. Harding head coach Meredith Fear had two aces in that match.
Harding improves to 8-7 on the season and 3-0 in the GAC.
Ouachita Baptist falls to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in the GAC.
FIRST SET
Harding started the match with a 7-0 run on six kills, four by Skyler McKinnon. Ouachita Baptist battled back to cut the lead to three 24-21 but a kill by McKinnon gave the Lady Bisons the set 25-21. Harding had 16 kills and hit .267 in the set.
SECOND SET
Trailing 13-11 in the second set, Ouachita Baptist went on a 5-0 run on three kills to lead 16-13. Harding got within one, 16-15 but the Tigers closed the set on a 9-4 run to lead 25-20. Ouachita Baptist had 15 kills and hit .206 in the set.
THIRD SET
Trailing 6-3 in the third set, Harding went on a 9-1 run on eight kills to lead 12-7. The Lady Bisons went on to win the set 25-18. Harding had 18 kills and hit .279 in the set.
FOURTH SET
Up 10-8 in the fourth set, Harding went on a 12-4 run on three aces to lead 22-12. Ouachita won five of the next seven points but a kill by Sarah Morehead won the set for the Lady Bisons 25-17. Ouachita Baptist had six attack errors in the set.

Harding
- Harding had 52 kills, 18 attack errors and hit .245 in the match. It was the third straight match that the Lady Bisons had have over 50 kills.
- Skyler McKinnon and Jacey Lambert each led Harding with 13 kills. McKinnon also hit .444 with only one attack error.
- Harding had 60 digs in the match with Emma Winiger leading the way with 20. Logan Smith-Morgan also had 10 digs.
- Smith-Morgan also led Harding with four of the 16 aces. Libby Hinton, Grecia Soriano and Emma Winiger all had three aces.
Ouachita Baptist
- Ouachita Baptist had 49 kills, 21 attack errors and hit .200 in the match.
- The Tigers were led by Riley Braziel who captured a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs.
- Ouachita Baptist had 63 digs in the match with Avery Jauz having 23.

Harding will continue GAC action next Tuesday when it hosts Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m., at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
