Harding Moves to Top of GAC Standings with 3-1 Win Over Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Harding moved into sole possession of first place in the Great American Conference standings with a 3-1 victory over Arkansas Tech on Tuesday night at Tucker Coliseum.

The Lady Bisons (10-5, 3-0 GAC) won their fifth consecutive match overall and seventh straight against the Golden Suns (8-7, 3-1 GAC), taking the match 23-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-14.

Delaney Garner and Skyler McKinnon led Harding with 14 kills each, while Jacey Lambert added 12. Olivia Wiedower had 36 assists and Maegan Lacy contributed 16 digs.

Henley Hooks paced Arkansas Tech with 13 kills, and Emma Kiser had 38 assists.

Harding has now won five of its last six matches against the Golden Suns in Russellville.

Set 1  Arkansas Tech took the opening set 25-23 in a tightly contested battle. The Golden Suns rallied from a 4-0 deficit to take control, paced by Henley Hooks' five kills. Delaney Garner had five kills for Harding, but the Lady Bisons committed six attack errors. The set featured 11 ties and five lead changes, with Arkansas Tech ultimately pulling away on Hooks' decisive kill.

Set 2  Harding evened the match with a 25-22 victory in the second set. The Bisons rallied from a 16-14 deficit, scoring 11 of the final 15 points. Delaney Garner had six kills and Skyler McKinnon added five, while Olivia Wiedower had 10 assists. Ashley Lamkin and Maegan Lacy combined for three blocks, including two crucial ones late in the set. Arkansas Tech's Neal Kaitlyn had five kills, but the Golden Suns committed eight attack errors.

Set 3  Harding took a thrilling 27-25 victory in the third set, overcoming a 7-2 deficit. The Lady Bisons rallied behind Skyler McKinnon's six kills and Delaney Garner's five. Maegan Lacy added four kills and three blocks. Arkansas Tech's Henley Hooks had seven kills, but the Golden Suns committed 11 attack errors. The set featured 15 ties and seven lead changes, with Harding ultimately prevailing on consecutive kills by Skyler McKinnon and Delaney Garner.

Set 4  Harding took a decisive 25-14 victory in the fourth set, sealing the match 3-1. The Lady Bisons dominated, hitting .361 and holding Arkansas Tech to .143. Skyler McKinnon had seven kills, Delaney Garner added six, and Maegan Lacy had five. Olivia Wiedower had 16 assists and three blocks. Arkansas Tech's Hooks Henley had four kills, but the Golden Suns committed 11 attack errors.   

The Lady Bisons return to action Thursday, hosting Southern Arkansas at 6 p.m., at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
