HU Volleyball Season Ends with Loss in GAC Tournament Finals

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Harding's volleyball team fell short in the Great American Conference Tournament finals, losing 3-0 to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at Bank OZK Arena.

Despite a strong effort, the Lady Bisons were unable to overcome Ouachita Baptist's momentum, dropping the match with set scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-16. Ouachita Baptist advances to the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament, while Harding's season concludes with a 22-9 record.

The Lady Bisons' ninth season with 20+ wins under head coach Meredith Fear's 12 full seasons comes to a close. Harding has been a dominant force in the GAC, reaching the tournament finals nine times and claiming championships in 2012, 2018, and 2022.

In the opening set, Harding led 19-17 but Ouachita Baptist scored seven consecutive points to take control. The Lady Bisons fought back with four straight points, but Ouachita Baptist secured the set with a kill.

The second set saw 10 ties, with Ouachita Baptist ultimately scoring the final four points to take the set 25-21.

In the third set, Harding trailed 12-12 before Ouachita Baptist pulled away, winning 13 of the next 17 points to seal the victory.

Jacey Lambert led Harding with 10 kills, while Delaney Gerner and Maegan Lacy added nine each. Olivia Wiedower recorded 24 assists and 11 digs, and Tatum Fouche led the team with 23 digs.

Delaney Garner and Tatum Fouche were named to the GAC All-Tournament team, recognizing their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

Riley Braziel paced Ouachita Baptist with 13 kills and 10 digs, leading her team to the championship title.
