MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Harding softball team held off No. 21 Southern Arkansas until the sixth inning as the Muleriders defeated the Lady Bisons 5-1 in Great American Conference action Friday.
Harding falls to 8-9 overall and 0-4 in the GAC.
Southern Arkansas improves to 13-4 overall and 4-0 in the GAC.
Riley Price started and went the distance for Harding. Price falls to 7-6 on the season. She gave up four earned runs and struck out five.
Emma Curry led Harding at the plate going 2-for-3. Jordan Cabana went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
With two outs in the top of the first, Jordan Cabana hit a solo home run down the left field line. It was her second home run of the season.
Southern Arkansas tied the game in the second on a sacrifice fly.
The Muleriders took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on an RBI double by Kamryn Moctezuma.
Southern Arkansas broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth scoring three runs on five hits.
Harding started the seventh inning with back-to-back singles but couldn't produce a run.
GAME NOTES
- Southern Arkansas outhit Harding 10-4.
- Sydney Ward got the win for Southern Arkansas and improves to 6-1. She had seven strikeouts in the game.
- Kamryn Moctezuma led the Muleriders at the plate going 4-for-4 with two RBI.
