Arzu Leads Harding Men's Golf to Fourth Place Finish at Arkansas Collegiate

EL DORADO, Ark. – Harding's Jose Arzu shot 10-over 154 over 36 holes Monday and Tuesday to lead the Bisons to a fourth-place tie among 12 teams at the Arkansas College, hosted by Southern Arkansas at Mystic Creek Golf Club.

A freshman from Guatemala, Arzu recorded his first collegiate top-10 finish, placing seventh.

Senior Sam Tandy finished in the top 10 for the sixth time in seven tournaments this season at 11-over 155.

Senior Leo Maciejek was 20th at 159, sophomore Dennis Staykov tied for 37th at 165, and sophomore Jose Manuel Peralta tied for 51st at 169.

Harding shot 313 in Round 1 and followed that with a 319 in Round 2 to finish at 56-over 632. The Bisons tied for the best figure in the tournament on par 5s, playing them at 12 over. Individually, Tandy played the par 5s at a tournament-best 1 under.

Harding's Wilmer Haakansson, playing as an individual, had the tournament's lone eagle with a 2 on the par-4, 316-yard 11th hole.

Harding entered the tournament ranked 49th in Division II and sixth in the Central Region. Tandy is the top individual, ranked 17th in Division II and third in the region.

The Bisons' next action is Apr. 1-2 at The Showdown at Shangri-La, hosted by Rogers State at the Shangri-La Resort in Monkey Island, Oklahoma.
