SEARCY – Home runs by Lana Danielson and Jordan Cabana gave the Harding softball team a 3-2 win over Arkansas-Monticello Saturday in Great American Conference action.
The Lady Bisons improved to 11-9 on the season and 3-4 in the GAC.
Arkansas-Monticello fell to 12-11 overall and 4-3 in the GAC.
Riley Price started and got the win for Harding to improve to 8-6 on the season. Price threw 6 1/3 innings, gave up an earned run and struck out three. Abby Burch threw 2/3 innings of relief before being replaced by Price.
Lana Danielson and Jordan Cabana each went 2-for-3 in the game to lead Harding at the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
With one out in the bottom of the second, Lana Danielson hit her first career home run to put Harding up 1-0. It was her ninth RBI of the season.
The Lady Bisons made it 3-0 in the bottom of the third when Jordan Cabana hit a two-run homer to left. It was her third home run of the season and her 15th and 16th RBIs.
Arkansas-Monticello got a run back in the sixth when Grace Neal hit a double down the right field line that scored Kennedy Cox from first.
The Blossoms scored another run in the top of the seventh when Emmy Apodaca scored a wild pitch. Arkansas-Monticello had another scoring opportunity in the inning but Apodaca was thrown out at home by shortstop Tedi Nunn on a fielder's choice.
GAME NOTES
- Harding out-hit Arkansas-Monticello 7-5.
- The Blossoms left seven runners on base.
- Courtnee Sensibaugh had two stolen bases for Arkansas-Monticello.
- Riley Price faced 25 batters in the game and had eight flyouts and eight groundouts.
- Mallory Pitre received the loss for Arkansas-Monticello and fell to 5-4. She went six innings gave up three earned runs and struck out three.
