DURANT, Okla. – The Harding softball team swept Southeastern Oklahoma Saturday in a Great American Conference doubleheader. The Lady Bisons won the first game 3-0 and the second game 9-3.
Despite the loss Friday, Harding won the series 2-1 over the Savage Storm.
Harding improves to 28-13 overall and 18-8 in the GAC.
Southeastern Oklahoma falls to 23-21 overall and 15-12 in the GAC.
GAME ONE (Harding 3, Southeastern Oklahoma 0)
Riley Price pitched her third complete game of the season and got her second shutout of the season. She only gave up three hits and struck out four. Price improved to 15-8 on the season.
Macy Ham and Mariana Caro each had two hits in the game to lead Harding at the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harding got its scoring started in the first inning when Emma Curry hit a double to left center that scored two runs.
After five scoreless innings, the Lady Bisons plated an insurance run in the seventh when Mariana Caro singled in Kaya Lee from third.
GAME NOTES
- Harding had eight hits in the game.
- It was Harding's ninth shutout of the season.
- Emily Simmons received the loss for Southeastern Oklahoma and falls to 8-5 on the season.
GAME TWO (Harding 9, Southeastern Oklahoma 3)
Abby Burch threw the third complete game of the season to earn the win for Harding. She improves to 12-5 on the season. Burch gave up nine hits, three earned runs and struck out two.
The Lady Bisons were led at the plate by Riley Price who went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harding took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Riley Price hit a single down the left field line that scored Mariana Caro.
Southeastern Oklahoma tied the game in the second on an RBI triple.
The Savage Storm took a 3-1 lead in the third scoring two runs on two hits.
Harding took the lead the for good in the fifth scoring five runs on four hits and an error. Lana Danielson highlighted the inning with a two-run double to left center.
The Lady Bisons made it 9-3 in the sixth scoring three runs on five hits. Danielson singled in two more runs for Harding in the inning.
GAME NOTES
- Harding outhit Southeastern Oklahoma 12-9.
- Seven different Lady Bisons had a hit in the game.
- It was the second time this season Lana Danielson had drove in four runs in a game.
- Reese Taylor started and received the loss for Southeastern Oklahoma. She went 4 2/3 innings, gave up two earned runs and walked five.
