For the second consecutive season, the Harding men's golf team advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships after a third-place finish in the NCAA DII Central/Midwest Regional. The Bisons shot a 1-under 279 on Saturday and finished at 10-under 830. Central Oklahoma and Henderson State finished No. 1 and 2 respectively after identical 13-under final rounds propelled them to the top.
Sam Tandy finished tied for third at 7-under 203 after a 3-under 67 Round 3. For Tandy, the tournament's leader in birdies with 18, posted his eighth top-5 finish of the season. Jose Arzu earned his fifth top-10 finish, shooting a 5-under 205 on the tournament after a 1-under 69 on Saturday to finish tied for seventh.
Dennis Staykov finished with an even 70 on Saturday and tied for 14th at 3-under 207. Jose Peralta finished tied for 87th at 11-over 221 after a 3-over 73 on Saturday. Finlay Cummings finished tied for 95th at 14-over 224.
The Bisons third place finish is the best finish in Regional action in program history, besting last seasons tied for fifth finish. Tandy was also the highest finishing Bison in Regional tournaments, besting Juan Luis Sanchez's finish in 2018 when he was tied for sixth.
The Bisons will advance to only their second ever NCAA Division II National Championships appearance when they head to Winter Garden, Florida on May 21-25 and compete at the Orange County National Golf Center.
