HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Harding volleyball team swept Emmanuel 3-0 Friday in the Alabama-Huntsville Classic before dropping a hard fought five setter to the host team Alabama-Huntsville, 3-2.
The Lady Bisons move to 4-3 on the season.
Emmanuel falls to 2-4 and Alabama-Huntsville improves to 5-0.
EMMANUEL MATCH
The Harding volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Emmanuel (GA) on Friday, winning 25-13, 19-25, 25-16, and 25-20.
Skyler McKinnon led the charge with 18 kills and a .268 attack percentage, while Delaney Garner added 15 kills and a .452 attack percentage. Maegan Lacy contributed 13 kills and a .355 attack percentage, and Olivia Wiedower dished out 44 assists with a .373 assist percentage.
Harding's offense was potent, with a .281 attack percentage and 60 kills. The team also tallied 52 assists, 7 aces, and 71 digs. The Lady Bison's blocking was solid, with 3 total team blocks.
1st Set: Harding Dominates 25-13
Harding took control from the start, racing to a 10-2 lead. Maegan Lacy led the charge with seven kills, and the team's blocking was solid with 3 total team blocks. Harding's offense was potent, with a .281 attack percentage and 17 kills.
2nd Set: Emmanuel (GA) Evens Match 25-19
Emmanuel (GA) fought back in the second set, taking an early lead and maintaining it throughout. Emmanuel's serving was strong with four aces. Harding struggled with 11 attack errors.
3rd Set: Harding Regains Momentum 25-16
Harding bounced back in the third set, taking an early lead and never looking back. Delaney Garner led the Lady Bisons with seven kills. Emmanuel had 10 attack errors in the set.
4th Set: Harding Seals Win 25-20
In the final set, Harding took an early lead and maintained it throughout. Skyler McKinnon led the Lady Bisons with eight kills.
The match saw 11 tie scores and 3 lead changes.
ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE MATCH
Alabama Huntsville rallied from two-sets down to defeat Harding 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-11) on Friday night.
Autumn Mayes led the Chargers with 16 kills and 16 digs, while Zoe Smith added 14 kills and Kayla Ward contributed 9 kills and 4 blocks.
For Harding, Skyler McKinnon had 17 kills, Delaney Garner added 13 kills and 2 blocks, and Jacey Lambert chipped in with 13 kills and 3 blocks.
The Chargers out blocked the Lady Bisons 20-10 and held a slight edge in kills (62-69) and digs (83-80).
1st Set: Harding defeats Alabama Huntsville (UAH) 25-23. HU's Skyler McKinnon and Jacey Lambert led the team to victory with 5 and 4 kills, respectively. UAH's Zoe Smith had 5 kills in the set.
2nd Set: Harding wins 25-19 against Alabama Huntsville (UAH). Delaney Garner and Skyler McKinnon of HU had 4 kills each, while UAH's Autumn Mayes had 3 kills.
3rd Set: Alabama Huntsville (UAH) takes the set 25-23 against Harding (HU). UAH's Autumn Mayes and Zoe Smith had 5 and 4 kills, respectively. HU's Delaney Garner had 4 kills.
4th Set: Alabama Huntsville (UAH) wins 25-23 against Harding (HU). UAH's Autumn Mayes had 5 kills, while HU's Skyler McKinnon had 4 kills.
5th set: Alabama-Huntsville jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the fifth set and didn't look back as it won 15-11. The Chargers had nine kills and forced six Harding attack errors.
