SEARCY, Ark. — Samaris Alvarado's second-half goal lifted UT Tyler to a 1-0 victory over Harding on Saturday in non-conference action.
Alvarado scored the game-winner in the 49th minute, taking a through ball up the left side and firing a quick shot past Harding goalkeeper Maysa Willis. The assist went to Hana Masuko and Natalie Jones.
UT Tyler (5-0) outshot Harding 8-13. Patriot goalkeepers Emily Clark and Robbi Curry combined for five saves. Curry made three saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.
Harding (1-4) had several scoring opportunities, but couldn't capitalize. Whitney Thomas and Kelli Tindel each had two shots on goal, while Carmen Gunn added two shots.
The Patriots held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks and were called offside seven times.
Maysa Willis made three saves for Harding.
Harding will back in action Wednesday when it travels to Ada, Oklahoma to take on East Central to open Great American Conference play.
