TYLER, Texas - The Harding men's cross-country team dominated the UT Tyler Cross-Country Open, finishing first overall with a total time of 1:44:32 and an average time of 20:54. They outpaced host UT Tyler by 15 points, securing a score of 22 to UT Tyler's 37.

Harding's top five runners excelled, finishing in the top seven spots. Luke Walling led the charge, finishing second overall in the four-mile race with a time of 20:23.1. Rounding out the top five for Harding were Noah Haileab (3rd, 20:49.4), Oren Arthun (4th, 20:59.2), Tucker Allen (6th, 21:08.7), and Arnaud des Boscs (7th, 21:11.6).

This impressive performance marked Harding's first win in seven all-time races in the Lone Star state, surpassing their previous best finish of second place at the 1996 Lone Star Conference Championship in Commerce.

Walling, a Smithville, Arkansas native, was Harding's top runner for the 11th time in 19 career races, also securing his 10th career top-10 finish. Arthun, a freshman from Manhattan, Montana, debuted at Harding with a top-five finish.

The team will look to build on this momentum when they host the Steve Guymon Invitational on Friday, Sept. 13.
