Northeastern State Blanks Harding 2-0

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) — Northeastern State University's women's soccer team shut out Harding University 2-0 on Sunday at DeLoache Field, handing the Lady Bisons their second straight loss to start the season.
The RiverHawks (2-0) took an early lead with a penalty kick in the 24th minute of the first half. Despite Harding's efforts, Northeastern State maintained its lead, ending the first half with a 1-0 advantage. The Lady Bisons struggled to find their footing, with only two shots in the first half, both from outside the 18-yard box.
In the second half, Northeastern State solidified its lead with a goal inside the six-yard box in the 55th minute, making it 2-0. Brynn Baldon scored the team's second goal, securing the shutout. Harding's Lauren Service and Calle Citty attempted to get their team on the board, but their shots on goal were unsuccessful.
Harding (0-2) managed only six shots, three of which were on goal. Maysa Willis made five saves in goal for the Lady Bisons. Northeastern State outshot Harding 14-6, with Sydney Taylor leading the team with three shots. Rebecca Partyka made three saves in goal for the RiverHawks, earning the shutout.
The Lady Bisons will look to bounce back in their next game against Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tennessee, on September 12.
